2011 Midtown Bucket List

By Christine Cheng, SacMidtown.com

Now that the Holidays are coming to a close, most of us are eager to welcome not only the New Year, but also the fresh start it brings. What happened or didn’t happen in 2010 is over and done with, and 2011 is another chance for a do-over.

Some traditional New Year’s resolutions you often hear of are resolutions to lose weight, quit smoking and drink less, among other things.

This year I wanted to change it up a little.

Rather than the typical New Year’s resolutions, I decided to tie in Midtown to my list of commitments for 2011. A Midtown Bucket List, if you will. As I approach my one- year anniversary of living in Midtown, there are still things I want to do and places I want to check out but never got around to this year. Yes, believe it or not, I have yet to experience some of the items listed below.

Top 10 Things I want to do before the end of 2011:

1) Check out Midtown Bazaar
Open Saturdays 10 AM-3PM and 2nd Saturday 10 AM-8 PM
Local artists and small business owners display their merchandise
www.midtownbazaar.com

2) Have brunch at Tower Café with a movie to follow
I’ve only been here for dinner and need to sample their brunch menu. I heard the French Toast is to die for!
2508 Land Park Drive
Sacramento, CA 95818

3) Explore Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park
2701 L Street
Sacramento, CA 95816

8) Yoga in the Park
Starts 9 AM
McKinley Park behind the Rose Garden

9) Grab a drink at Pre-Flite Lounge
513 L Street
Sacramento, CA 95814
Sunday – 2PM – 10PM

10) Sacramento International Film Festival

With this Bucket List, I am committing myself to be a better Midtowner and see what Midtown has to offer besides the restaurant and bar scene (I know there’s more to Midtown than that). So regardless of what you have on your list of resolutions, try to put together your own 2011 Midtown Bucket List. Before you know it, it will be 2012.
